To check its status, try: systemctl status libvirtd. My guess is, libvirtd is not running - to start it, try: systemctl start libvirtd. UPDATE: Problem not related to Android Studio emulator, happens on virt-manager too. Tried 4.15.0-1050-oem on host, same problem. I tried 4.15.0-60 on guest, same problem. When I launch the Android Emulator from Android Studio, the entire guest freezes. var/lib/libvirt/qemu/nvram/windows10_VARS. The sockets are a special type of file that should get created when the libvirt daemon starts. In the guest, Ubuntu 18.04.4 with kernel 5.30.0-40-generic. According to there is 4.0 for Ubuntu 19.10 3.1 for 19. They provide instructions for a tar ball download: cd /Downloads/ wget tar xvJf qemu-4.2.0.tar.xz cd qemu-4.2.0.
